The Graduate ~ A true artisan project by Eimor Customs

Motorcycling – More Than Just Transport

Motorcycling is more than transportation. When we ride, we become immersed in an experience, and the motorcycle plays an intimate part in that feeling. A motorcycle feels close to its owner, almost like a dance partner whose subtle moves become familiar over time. Therefore, we keep personalizing our machines so they fit our identity and needs.

These changes may be simple crash protection, chrome or paint details, luggage, or navigational accessories bought with the dream of conquering epic adventures. Yet, they always become a reason for pride. For Saikat Basu, proud owner of a Royal Enfield Standard with over 1,00,000 km, the bond was even deeper. So, when the bike needed restoration after decades of journeys since the 1990s, it received special care.

The Man Behind the Build – Eimor Customs

After all, Saikat Basu is the craftsman behind many remarkable paint shades and modifications we have seen from Eimor Customs. His own motorcycle, however, was not just another project. It was a lifelong companion that deserved a thoughtful revival.

About the Bike – Royal Enfield Standard 350 (1990s)

“The Graduate” is a 1990s Royal Enfield Bullet Standard 350 cc. This bike has covered more than 1,00,000 km and has remained a faithful friend through thick and thin. However, it had its own share of problems. The electrical wiring was cut at several places and was prone to short circuits. In addition, the gearbox needed replacement.

The suspensions had become hard and ineffective. Moreover, for a heavy bike like the Bullet, the front drum brakes were not reliable on slopes. Therefore, we changed the headlight casing and installed new hydraulic front suspensions, which no longer need the old threading system and can be fitted with an Allen key bolt.

Mechanical and Comfort Upgrades

We also added new rear suspensions and a new stock seat to improve riding comfort. Furthermore, the entire wiring kit was replaced along with a new set of stock lights and indicators. A new gearbox and carburetor were fitted to restore smooth performance.

To give the motorcycle a different look, we tried a dished-out fuel tank. The combination of Bluish Grey, Off White, and Dark Brown stripes seemed like the best choice among all colors. As a result, the bike achieved a balanced blend of vintage character and modern usability.

Handcrafted Details and Final Character

We also carried out hand engraving on the clutch cover and gearbox covers to add a personal touch. With everything put together, and many elements consciously kept away, this bike has become a restrained and mature expression of our creativity.
