Cafe racers evolved back in the day were much simple, stripped down bikes that restored by owners themselves using whatever was around. Performance was the main objective, the dense, slim form that has come to define “cafe racer” in most minds was the natural result. And, the modern cafe racers are bliss of the glorious designs of the ancient motorcycle revolution, using contemporary parts and rejecting all exemption to modernity. A substantive example of modern cafe racer could be what we have today to share, a 2010 DTS fuel Injector equipped Bajaj Pulsar by Gear Gear Motorcycles from Bangalore. bajaj pulsar modified
Rajaram Rajendran from Gear Gear Motorcycles shared his building experience with us, “When this one came in, we knew it wouldn’t be a simple job. We had never done a cafe custom on a fuel-injected bike, and straightaway, we had to think of the design considering how the tank was going to be.
Finally we went with a Royal Enfield Classic 350 tank which we converted into a fuel-injected tank. The front part of the chassis was modded a bit to make this happen, and the rear subframe was completely cut off and a new one fabricated. A fatter front alloy wheel and tyre, headlamp and tail lamp with LED blinkers built in, custom made 2-up leather seat, new gauge, bar end mirrors, custom fenders, custom side covers, a new exhaust, and a paint job made it into a nice cafe racer for the city.”
