Our love for Cafe Racers is endless, they are modified for speed and handling rather than leaving it stock. Excess weight is stripped off by removing unnecessary parts. Lowered handlebars and rear set for controls are also a trait, to lower the riders position and decrease wind resistance which adds the signature cafe racer charm! Today the one we have is a Yamaha FZ Cafe Racer, stripped down and transformed into a cool cafe racer over its stock flashy look, by Gear Gear Motorcycle of Bangalore.
Rajaram Rajendran from Gear Gear Motorcycles shared few lines on the build, “An orange FZ came into the shop, and immediately we saw ‘Cafe’. The chassis did not allow for a straight out build, so we redesigned the rear subframe. FZ had alloy wheels, which where gotten rid of and new hubs with bigger and wider rims, powder coated, went at the front and back.
Went with knobbly tires for this one. All the plastics were removed, a new wiring and battery compartment fabricated. The tank was wrapped in gloss yellow, and the mono shock spring re-painted in the exact colour. M4 exhaust, bar end blinkers and bar end mirrors, round headlamp, new fenders, led tail lamp, clubman handlebars, custom-built seat, new gauges and the bike was ready. A nice riding, well handling, well-behaved urban motorcycle.”
