The cruiser style Royal Enfield, Thunderbird was introduced in India in 2000 with an AVL lean burn 350cc engine and five-speed gearbox. It is an Indian market model that has never been exported. And now after a gap of more than 10 years they have displayed the Thunderbird 500cc for the first time in Delhi Auto Expo 2012, with bunch of new features which is sure to attract more customers. The all new Royal Enfield Thunderbird now with a powerful 500 cc engine, a 20 litre tank, digital meter console, LED tail lamps and in three striking shades of black gives a new definition to Highway cruising.
Perhaps one of the most anticipated models from the Royal Enfield stable, Thunderbird 500 is poised to enhance the pleasure of leisure motorcycling amongst the touring enthusiasts. Coming soon from Royal Enfield this motorcycle with its distinctive “black” styling, this motorcycle is all set to make a distinct statement on the roads.
Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500cc is expected to be released on the first quarter of 2012. The possible debut date might be 22th May and the Price should be within a range of 1.6Lakh to 1.9Lakh Though there are no official confirmations from the company, it is believed that the price and launch date will be the same as mentioned. The new Brid does not have the o2 censor for Indian production to compromise with price, bit sad for Indian customers but a O2 censor may cost the Brid 10 to 15 thousand more.
Along with the Thunderbird, Royal Enfield also displayed its Cafe Racer 500cc concept which will most likely make it to production by 2013. This striking bike has garnered a lot of attention with its styling. The clip-on handlebars which sit low, very unlike any other Royal Enfield bike, the twin pod console, the rear view mirrors mounted on the handle bars, the long fuel tank and the short seat all make for a very attractive package. Displayed in sporty red at the Auto Expo it was quite the head turner. Now the wait for the pricing details to emerge.
