Well, here’s how it goes. A Royal Enfield owner and a friend of ICB owns a Royal Enfield Classic 500 EFI. Not satisfied with the way his motorcycle performs, the poor man sells his motorcycle only to find himself being allured towards the Royal Enfield brand yet again. Like they say, it’s a “bullet thing”!
On finally saying that enough is enough and dumping the fuel injected model for a carbureted Classic UCE350, a Royal Enfield dealer, whom we’re not naming, let’s the cat out of the bag. The dealer, pitying the customer for the disappointment he’s had to undergo previously with his Classic 500 EFI placates him by saying this.
Apparently, Royal Enfield is readying up a carbureted version of the Classic 500 UCE, which could be launched, or rather soft launched in the next two months. The dealer also said that the carbureted UCE500 engine will also lead to the Royal Enfield UCE500 model’s price being reduced by around INR 10-15,000 at least.
Also, we’ve been hearing that Classic 500EFIs are not being produced currently for the Indian market to make way for the newer model and that dispatches from the factory have been stopped temporarily. Whatever it might be, it looks like something is up at Royal Enfield and that there’s fat chance that we could see the cheaper carbed version of the Royal Enfield CL500 very soon.
We aren’t too surprised with what we’re hearing as this had to happen sooner than later with Royal Enfield having entered details about a carbed UCE500 on the RTO registers. If you’ve been around ICB for a while, then you’d have read this. There’s also another big story emerging from Royal Enfield which we will carry after a few verifications. Watch this space!
