There are a lot of memes floating around the internet on Modified Royal Enfields, however there not much you find on the base of a Lightening series. Lightning 500 was the first effort from the Royal Enfield towards what today’s “Thunderbird” are ~ Cruiser style motorcycle with 535 cc (87 mm bore) having hi-volume oil pumps and 4-speed gearbox. The bike was discontinued since 2013 and the production was not very high so you don’t get often chance to pay attention on a Lightening! So we were pleased to see the new custom build from Dochaki Design, Pune restoring a Royal Enfield Lightening 535cc! “Here is Dochaki Ashvat, based on royal enfield lightening 535cc. It was sitting in a corner for a long time at the owners place, in not running condition, we have to tow it, to bring this old rusted beast to our shop. After discuzsion with the owner, we started our work to convert it into low riding cruiser.
We started with with broad and 15 inch smaller rear tyre. To give it a low riding position as per the client requirement. Frame has been modified to accommodate the new suspensions.

Everything on this bike is handcrafted and modified, excluding the engine and tyres and front telescopic forks.
Complet bike is finished in black and some acsents of grey and gold to accentuate the specifically designed chamfered arear on tank and other body panels to give the bike a sleek look.

Royal Enfield Lightening 535cc

Engine power has been increased by porting the engine along with some work on head, sprocket and exhaust system.
After looking the final product, the faculties and students of Symboisi Institute of Design, Pune, got impressed and wanted to do a photoshoot with the bike.”
