Indian Motorcycle landed in India

Iconic American bike maker Indian Motorcycle International Llc finally entered in India big bikes list, with a pretty big price. The legendary bike company was started their production in 1901 and went bankrupt in 1953.There were number of organizations have perpetuated the brand thereafter and have limited successful business. Finally Polaris Industries, based in the Minneapolis, Medina, Minnesota, USA, an American manufacturer of snowmobiles, ATV, and neighborhood electric vehicles purchased Indian Motorcycles and started their production in North Carolina, USA. In 2013 they have started their business with 3 models having traditional Indian style.

In India they have the price tags as follow – Chief Classic priced at Rs.26.5 lakh, Chief Vintage Rs.29.5 lakh and Chief Chieftain priced at and Rs.33 lakh, the prices are of Ex showroom price in Delhi excluding the value-added tax of 12.5% as they will fall under completely built unit segments.

All three bikes are powered by an 1,811cc Thunder Stroke III engine, having 139 newton meter torque and 6 speed transmission. Indian Motorcycle, the oldest American brand, is all set to compete in India with the other big names like US based Harley Davidson and the recently launched British brand Triumph.

Targeting Businessmen, company executives and sports enthusiasts in the 30-50 age group, the legendary brand will open their first dealership in Delhi in March of the year and will open its second dealership in Bangalore later this year. They have set up a warehouse in Faridabad and for service related issue they will have bunch of engineers, will travel across the country providing the solutions.

  1. i can see the only difference between 3 bikes are the side bags…Chief Classic having no side bags — Rs.26.5 lakh, Chief Vintage with leathe bags -Rs.29.5 lakh …so the leather costs 3 lakh???? WTF..and then Chieftain priced Rs.33 lakh and comes with a metal side bags…so the steel cost 6 lakh??? seriously???? there might be high technology in the bags for may more thing but 6 lakh? one can get a sedan car by that money..Indian Motorcycle is definitaly not going to survive long..
